Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar took to Instagram to share a heartfelt reflection on Salman Khan”s birthday, recounting the serendipitous moment when the Bollywood icon joined Johar”s debut directorial venture, “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” (KKHH). Bollywood superstar, who was part of KKHH, is celebrating his 58th birthday today and the movie which was released in 1998 has been counted as one of the biggest blockbusters in Bollywood history.

Johar revealed that 25 years ago, he found himself at a party, feeling lost and confused about his career.

In the Instagram post, Johar narrated how Salman Khan, a massive movie star, approached him at the party, questioning why he was standing in a corner. Johar candidly confessed that he had approached several actors for a part in his film but had faced polite rejections. It was Salman Khan”s sister, who was close to Johar, that paved the way for a pivotal meeting.

Johar, expressing gratitude for the opportunity, detailed his nervousness as he narrated the film”s first half to Salman Khan, stating, “I went with a prayer in my heart and a deep desire for a miracle.” To Johar”s surprise, Salman Khan, after an interval break, graciously offered water and declared, “I”m on!!!” Despite being informed that he was in the second half of the film, Khan”s response was, “I love your father, and my sister will kill me if I don”t do this movie.”

Johar expressed deep gratitude to Alvira (Salman Khan”s sister) and his father”s goodwill for ensuring he had the perfect Aman in Salman Khan for his debut film. Reflecting on the significance of this gesture, Johar noted, “Gestures and stories like this just don”t happen today!” He concluded the post by extending warm birthday wishes to Salman Khan and teasing a forthcoming story to be told 25 years later.

Apart from Salman Khan, the movie had an ensemble cast of Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Rani Mukherji, Anupam Kher, Farida Jalal, Reema Lagoo, Johnny Lever among others.
