Mammootty’s Kalamkaval Gets New Release Date?
The makers of Mammootty’s much-awaited crime thriller Kalamkaval have finally put an end to all the confusion surrounding the film’s release.
After weeks of speculation about delays and reshuffling, the team confirmed on Tuesday that the movie will hit theatres on December 5.

Earlier reports had suggested a possible shift to January 2026, but the upcoming date has now been locked in by the makers, offering much-needed clarity to fans.

This confirmation comes after the film had already faced a postponement from its original release date of November 27, 2025. Mammootty Kampany, the production house behind the project, had released a statement saying the team was committed to delivering the film “at the right moment,” without revealing the exact reason for the delay.
Industry trackers had hinted that discussions involving OTT and satellite rights might have played a role, though no official confirmation has been made.
Kalamkaval has generated strong buzz ever since the trailer dropped online. The promo, known for its slow-burning tension and neo-noir visuals, quickly gained traction among fans and critics.
The story unfolds in Kottayikonam, a fictional area on the Kerala–Tamil Nadu border, where an altercation between two youngsters spirals into a full-blown communal riot.

As chaos spreads, the Kerala Police’s Special Investigation Team steps in, only to uncover disturbing truths hidden beneath the surface. The film is presented with a documentary-style tone, brooding cinematography, and grounded realism.
The film marks the directorial debut of Jithin K. Jose, who has co-written the screenplay with Jishnu Sreekumar. Mammootty leads a powerful ensemble cast featuring Vinayakan, Meera Jasmine, Gibin Gopinath, Rajisha Vijayan, Gayatri Arun, Aravind S. K, Shruti Ramachandran, Azees Nedumangad, and Biju Pappan as SP Thomas.
Behind the camera, the visuals are crafted by cinematographer Faisal Ali, while Mujeeb Majeed handles the music and Praveen Prabhakar takes charge of editing.
The film completed production in November 2024 and holds a UA 16+ certification from the CBFC. Kalamkaval also stands out as the seventh production venture from Mammootty Kampany.
