“Minor Problems, No Serious Issues”: Update On Mammootty’s Health

Malayalam legend Mammootty’s health has become the subject of widespread speculation in recent days, prompting concern among fans. However, multiple reliable sources, including his close associates and official team, have confirmed that there are no serious health issues affecting the 73-year-old actor who has set a bench mark for acting performances across South Indian movie industries.

It all began with an unverified Reddit post which claimed that Mammootty was in the early stages of colon cancer and receiving treatment in a Chennai hospital. The post quickly spread across social media, leading to panic among fans and a flurry of online misinformation.

However, these rumours have since been firmly dismissed. The actor’s PR team clarified that Mammootty was on a scheduled break, observing Ramzan fasting, and spending time with family in Chennai. They emphasised that the actor is “absolutely fine” and there is no truth to the claims of a critical illness.

Adding further clarity, producer and production controller Badusha stated that Mammootty is only dealing with minor health problems common to anyone. “There are no serious issues as being said. He has only minor problems like any ordinary person. He is undergoing treatment for that. Everything is almost finished now. Mammootty will start acting again next month. The main reason for not acting now is due to the fasting period (Ramadan),” he said.

Actor Mohanlal, during the promotional event for Empuraan, also reassured fans that Mammootty is in good health. His offering at Sabarimala for Mammootty’s wellbeing added to public interest, but he reiterated that there is nothing to worry about.

Reports also suggested that Mammootty’s health concerns began just as filming for Mahesh Narayanan’s new project was about to begin. This film, tentatively titled MMMN, features Mammootty and Mohanlal together on-screen after 16 years, alongside a star-studded cast including Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, Fahadh Faasil, and Grace Antony.

The actor’s team has assured fans that he will return to the shoot of MMMN next month as planned.

Meanwhile, Mammootty is preparing for the release of his upcoming action thriller Bazooka, written and directed by Deeno Dennis. Scheduled for release on April 10, the film stars Gautham Vasudev Menon as Benjamin Joshua and includes Siddharth Bharathan, Babu Antony, and Divya Pillai among the cast.
