The internet was taken by storm with the growing concerns over Mammootty’s health and the surrounding rumors. Putting an end to the swirling rumors of the actor’s alleged cancer diagnosis, the PR team of the Bazooka actor dismissed all the speculations, and confirmed that he is absolutely fine.

Since yesterday, social media has been abuzz with claims that the 73-year-old actor had been diagnosed with cancer and admitted to a hospital in Chennai in critical condition. The viral rumor also claimed that Mammootty had stepped away from his filming commitments for treatment.

However, Mammootty’s team has officially issued a statement and clarified that the legendary actor is currently on vacation while observing fasting for Ramzan. The statement further added that the actor has been spending some quality time with his family in Chennai and thus he is taking a scheduled break from filming.

The actor’s team also assured the fans that Mammootty will be returning to the shoot for Mahesh Narayanan’s film MMMN soon.

It all started with a Reddit post that claimed that Mammootty was in the early stages of colon cancer and assured that it was treatable. This random post, without any proper verification, soon went viral, triggering confusion and concerns. Fortunately, the misinformation was soon put to an end with the official clarification from the team.

On the work front, Mammootty is now looking forward to the release of his upcoming action entertainer, Bazooka. Written and directed by Deeno Dennis, this anticipated action thriller is scheduled to hit theatres on April 10.

Jointly produced by Sarigama and Theater of Dreams, Bazooka features Gautham Vasudev Menon in a crucial role as Benjamin Joshua and also stars Siddharth Bharathan, Babu Antony, Hakeem Shahjahan, Bhama Arun, Dean Dennis, Sumit Naval, Divya Pillai and Spadikam George.

Meanwhile, the actor is currently working on Mahesh Narayanan’s tentatively titled film, MMMN. The project marks the first on-screen reunion of superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal after 16 years. The film is also rumored to feature Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara and Fahadh Faasil.
