Mohanlal’s New Film L 365 To Begin Shooting In December}"
Veteran Malayalam actor Mohanlal is set to return to a police role after several years in his upcoming film L 365, which is scheduled to begin shooting on December 5. The project will be directed by Austin Dan Thomas, making his debut, and produced by Ashiq Usman under the banner of Ashiq Usman Productions.
Confirming the news in an interview with Cue Studio, producer Ashiq Usman revealed that the major portions of the film will be shot in Thodupuzha, with additional schedules in Mumbai and Sabarimala.
The film, which is currently being referred to by its working title L 365, promises to be a significant collaboration bringing together some of Malayalam cinema’s most exciting talents.
The script has been penned by Ratheesh Ravi, known for his sharp and contemporary writing in films like Ishq, Adi, Maharani, and Alappuzha Gymkhana (dialogues).
L 365 is expected to combine his characteristic emotional depth with a strong investigative narrative, offering Mohanlal a dynamic role that harks back to his powerful portrayals of law enforcement officers in the past.
Music for the film will be composed by Jakes Bejoy, who recently collaborated with Mohanlal in Thudarum. Bejoy’s association with intense thrillers and emotionally driven scores adds to the anticipation surrounding the project’s soundscape.
Director Austin Dan Thomas comes from a strong filmmaking background, having served as the chief associate director in Anjaam Pathiraa, a widely acclaimed thriller produced by Ashiq Usman.
Apart from his behind-the-camera work, Austin has also appeared in small acting roles in films such as Vijay Superum Pournamiyum, Ganagandharvan, and Thallumaala.
In 2023, Austin had announced another project with actor Jayasurya, which was intended to mark the scripting debut of the late editor Nishad Yusuf. However, that project did not materialise, and L 365 will now officially mark his directorial debut.
The film will mark Mohanlal’s return to the police uniform, a role he has portrayed memorably in several Malayalam classics. While specific details about the plot are still under wraps, L 365 is expected to explore a layered narrative, balancing action, investigation, and emotional drama.
Meanwhile, Mohanlal’s next theatrical release will be Vrusshabha, a multilingual period drama where he plays a warrior king. The film is slated to hit screens on November 6. The actor is also busy filming Jeethu Joseph’s Drishyam 3, where he reprises his iconic role as Georgekutty, alongside Meena, Ansiba Hassan, and Esther Anil.
In addition to these projects, Mohanlal is part of the much-talked-about multi-starrer Patriot, featuring Mammootty, Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, and Nayanthara in key roles.
