The legendary 1994 Malayalam romantic comedy Thenmavin Kombath makes its grand return to theatres worldwide today, October 8, 2026.

Initially scheduled to hit the screens a week earlier on October 1, the highly anticipated theatrical re-release was briefly pushed back, only adding to the massive fan excitement surrounding its arrival.

Superstar Mohanlal has been actively promoting the film’s return, publicly naming it as his absolute favorite collaboration with director Priyadarshan.

This worldwide re-release is much more than a simple nostalgia run, as the evergreen classic has undergone a massive technical overhaul to meet modern cinematic standards.

Prasad Corporation and Matinee Now went back to the original 35mm film negatives to perform a high-end 8K scan.

This footage was then meticulously cleaned and digitally restored into a crystal-clear Super 4K format that enhances clarity while carefully preserving the original cinematic texture.

Alongside the visual upgrade, the film’s iconic music by Berny-Ignatius and background score have been completely remixed to deliver an immersive, multi-dimensional Dolby Atmos audio experience.

Directed by Priyadarshan, Thenmavin Kombath remains a gold standard of Malayalam pop culture and commercial filmmaking.

The movie features unforgettable performances by Mohanlal as Manikyan, Shobana as Karthumbi, and Nedumudi Venu as Sreekrishnan, supported by an incredible comedy ensemble that includes Sreenivasan and Kuthiravattam Pappu.

The film is also fondly remembered for its breathtaking visuals, which earned the late K.V. Anand a National Film Award for cinematography. Advance ticket bookings are already live on major ticketing platforms including BookMyShow.
