Rajamouli And Mahesh Babu's 'SSMB29' Not To Be Released In Two Parts?
Director Rajamouli’s next cinematic venture, SSMB 29 with global stars Mahesh Babu, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Priyanka Chopra, is the next anticipated film in India. As the film has been extensively progressing on its production front, reports have revealed a major update about the film. Revamping the current trend, the RRR director has planned to release the upcoming jungle adventure as a single film and not as his usual two-part entertainers.
Rajamouli is one of the very few directors who introduced the trend of the dual-part film franchise in Indian cinema. He is also one of the directors who is known for making powerful stories on expensive budgets. His blockbuster periodic film Baahubali was also released as two films—Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017).

There’s been a recent trend where filmmakers are focusing more on creating franchises by splitting films into different parts. The move has also received good reception from the audience as well.
But now, Rajamouli seems to want to break the mold and restructure his screenplay by offering a full-fledged single-part entertainer.
SSMB 29: A Single Part Film
Much like RRR, this film will also be released as an action-packed single film with an extended runtime of 3 hours and 30 minutes. The reason behind this revamp of the director is also interesting. Since the director feels that the two-part storytelling has been misused recently for the sake of monetary gains, Rajamouli didn’t want to stretch the story just for the sake of it. Reports also suggest that the film will have a proper start, middle and end while hitting the right notes. SSMB29 is expected to be the longest film in Rajamouli’s career.

The makers have been planning to release the official announcement video of the film soon. The 2-minute-long video is expected to feature some key moments and footage from the making of the film. The announcement video is presently underway.
The plot is rumored to feature Mahesh Babu in a role inspired by Lord Hanuman from Hindu mythology. It marks Rajamouli’s first collaboration with Mahesh Babu, Prithviraj and Priyanka Chopra and is being produced on a massive budget of approximately Rs 900-1000 crore. The film is expected to hit theatres in 2027.
