Renowned film editor Nishad Yusuf was found dead on Wednesday morning at his flat in Panampally Nagar, Kochi. He was 43 years old. Hailing from Haripad, Alappuzha, Nishad won the state award for best film editor for his work in the 2022 film “Thallumala.”
The Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) Directors’ Union has confirmed the sad news of Nishad Yusuf’s passing. In a heartfelt tribute on their Facebook page, FEFKA shared a photo of Nishad and expressed their condolences. They described his untimely demise as a shock to the film industry and acknowledged his contributions to the Malayalam cinema.

Nishad’s editing credits include notable films such as “Unda,” “Sau-di Veellakka,” “Thallumala,” “Wolf,” “Operation Java,” “One,” “Chaver,” “Ramachandra Bose and Co,” “Udal,” “Aalankam,” “Ayirathonnu Nunakal,” “Adigos Amigo,” and “Exit.” At the time of his passing, Nishad was working on several upcoming films, including Mammootty’s “Bazooka,” Suriya’s “Kanguva,” and Naslin Gafoor’s “Alappuzha Jinkhana.”
According to regional media reports, investigators are looking into the circumstances surrounding Nishad’s death with speculation suggesting it may have been a suicide. However, the Kerala Police have not officially confirmed the cause of death.
The police investigation is currently underway and authorities are working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding Nishad’s tragic passing. The film community continues to mourn the loss of this talented editor with many posting their condolences on social media platforms.
