Shyam Benegal’s ‘Mujib – The Making Of a Nation’ biopic of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will be released in theatres worldwide on October 27.

The National Filim Development Corporation shared the film’s release date and trailer on its official X page.

“Discover the extraordinary life and nation-building journey of Bangabandhu in “Mujib: The Making of a Nation,” a Shyam Benegal biopic,” NFDC posted on X.

The veteran Indian filmmaker Shyam Benegal’s directorial about first Bangladesh President is a Bangladesh-India co-production of Bangladeshi Filim Development Corporation and India’s National Film Development Corporation.

The trailer of 2 minutes length was posted on the NFDC India YouTube channel.

The trailer began with the scene Mujibur Rahman disembarking the aircraft and kissing the ground. The trailer also takes the viewers’ attention to the discourse produced when Muhammad Ali Jinnah announced Urdu as the National language.

Arifin Shuvoo plays the lead in Mujib. Nusrat Imrose stars as the partner of Mujib.  A brief glimpse of his daughter, a young Sheikh Hasina (Nusrat Faria) was also seen in the trailer. A small glimpse of him meeting the former President of Pakistan Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Mahatma Gandhi is also added in the trailer. Bloodshed, war and revolution are all part of the trailer.

Before the official release, the movie was screened at the 48th annual Toronto International Film Festival recently.

Afrin who has attended the TIFF screening said it was a great experience to view the film alongside the crowd “The research, the detailing to look like Mujib is seen on screen. I may not be able to put it in words what a feeling it is to see the film with an audience. It is an honour to play Bangabandhu in this magnificent biopic and to be here to see the response myself. May Mujib continue to touch our hearts and inspire the world the way he always did,” he had said as quoted by news agency PTI.

The film also stars Chanchal Chowdhury, Riaz Ahmed, Fazlur Rahman Babu, Tauquir Ahmed, and also has a special appearance by Siam Ahmed.
