Rohit Shetty on Sunday confirmed Deepika Padukone as Lady Singham in his first female-centric copverse. The first look of the actress as Shakti Shetty in Singham Again is finally out and as per the reports Ms Padukone will be featuring the character of Ajay Devgn’s sister in the film.

Rohit Shetty took to his Instagram handle and introduced Shakti Shetty with a thrilling astounding fire wrapped poster promising an action-packed entertainer. “Meet the most brutal and violent officer of our cop universe… Shakti Shetty… My lady Singham… Deepika Padukone”, wrote Mr Shetty captioning the flyer in which Ms Padukone is seen valiant and cool after capturing and defeating a gang of criminals. A police vehicle is parked in the background where everything is set burning. The actress with a wound on her left palm is smiling – better laughing – in the pictures, a direct opposite to what is placed in the background.

Singham Again is the third film in the Ajay Devgn led Singham series – after the success of Singham (2018) and Singham Returns (2014) – by the Cop Universe. The Cop Universe is an Indian media franchise and shared universe created by director, producer Rohit Shetty consisting of media focusing on police officers. The franchise includes films, animated series, video games, and web series.

The first two films, Singham (2011) and Singham Returns (2014) focus on Bajirao Singham, an honest District Commissioner of Police from Shivgarh, a town on the Goa-Maharashtra border, who fiercely fights for justice. The third, Simmba (2018), focuses on Sangram “Simmba” Bhalerao, a corrupt Inspector from the same town as Bajirao, who takes advantage of his job. The franchise has another installment, Sooryavanshi (2021) starring Akshay Kumar as Veer Sooryavanshi, another DCP of Mumbai.

It is the success of Suriya led Tamil-language film Singham (2010) inspired the Reliance Big Pictures, which co-produced the original version, to buy the Hindi remake rights and they announced the first in the Hindi franchise in November 2010 featuring Ajay Devgn and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead roles. Even though the film received mixed critical response, it was declared a ‘super hit’ at the box office.
