The anticipation over the Kanguva actor’s next venture with director Karthik Subbaraj is sky-high. On the auspicious day of Pongal, actor Suriya, who is looking up to his high-octane action entertainer Retro, offered a little surprise to his fans as a festive treat.
A week ago, the makers announced the release date of the film and turned this summer into Retro‘s summer. Making the 2025 Labour Day a special one, the Karthik Subbaraj directorial featuring Suriya and Pooja Hegde will hit theatres on May 1, 2025.

The Kanguva actor also made this festive season a memorable one by unveiling an exciting retro look of the cast. Interestingly, the actor conveyed his Pongal wishes in Tamil and wrote: “இனிய பொங்கல் மற்றும் தமிழர் திருநாள் வாழ்த்துகள்!”
He also extended his Sankranti wishes in Telugu, Hindi, and Punjabi languages. He wrote, “मकर संक्रांति शुभकामनाएँ! ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಸಂಕ್ರಾಂತಿ!ಹಬ್ಬದ ಶುಭಾಶಯಗಳು! అందరికి సంక్రాంతి!శుభాకాంక్షలు! ਲੋਹੜੀ ਮੁਬਾਰਕ! Festival wishes, dear all!”
Extending his wishes, the Jai Bhim actor also unveiled his cool gangster look from the film. The poster also revealed the looks of other characters in the film, including actors Jayaram and Karunakaran.

The film boasts a stellar cast with prominent actors like Joju George, Jayaram, Nassar, Prakash Raj, Shreya Saran, and others on board.
Produced by Stone Bench Films and Suriya’s 2D Entertainment, the film is set to feature music by Santhosh Narayanan, a frequent collaborator of Subbaraj. The film’s cinematography credit goes to Shreyaas Krishna, while the editing came under Mohammed Shafique Ali. Art direction is by Jacki and Mayapandi.
