Actor Jayam Ravi, known by his stage name for over 20 years, has decided to revert to his birth name, Ravi Mohan, marking a significant update in his career. The actor, who is all set to spread his wings in other forums of cinema, also shared a special announcement yesterday.
The announcement of the actor dropped just before the release of his Pongal special film Kadhalikka Neramillai, directed by Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi. The actor announced his decision in a heartfelt statement shared on his Instagram page.

In his announcement, Ravi expressed his gratitude to the film industry and his fans and wrote, “Cinema has always been my greatest passion and the foundation of my career, a world that has shaped who I am today. As I reflect on my journey, I am filled with immense gratitude for the opportunities, love, and support that cinema and all of you have given me. I look forward to extending my support to the industry that gave me life, love, and purpose.”
Ravi further clarified that he would like to be referred to as Ravi or Ravi Mohan. Explaining his choice, he wrote, “From this day forward, I will be known as Ravi/Ravi Mohan, a name that deeply resonates with my personal and professional aspirations. As I move into this new chapter, aligning my identity with my vision and values, I kindly request everyone to address me by this name and no longer as Jayam Ravi.”

The stage name of the actor, Jayam Ravi, emerged after the success and tribute to his debut film, Jayam, released in 2003. The success of the film propelled the title to become a prefix to his stage name. And after two decades, the actor is switching back to his birth name.

Here comes a major update. The actor also unveiled his plans for starting his own production company. Announcing his production house named Ravi Mohan Studios, the actor-producer described it as “a production house dedicated to discovering and championing compelling narratives that inspire, captivate, and resonate with audiences worldwide.”
Apart from this, the actor also shared that he has decided to have a structured fan club under the name Ravi Mohan Fans Foundation. “This foundation will work towards helping all those in need and making a positive impact in our society. It is my heartfelt effort to channel the love and support I have received into meaningful contributions for those who need it the most,” read a section of the shared note.
