
17 Years Later, Genelia D’Souza Recreates Iconic ‘Ha-Ha Hasini’ Scene With Ravi Mohan
Cinema nostalgia took centre stage as Tamil cinema’s beloved on-screen couple, Ravi Mohan and Genelia D’Souza, reunited to recreate one of the most memorable moments from their hit film Santosh Subramaniam (2008).
The duo, who charmed audiences with their chemistry as Santosh and Hasini, revisited the film’s iconic “Ha-Ha Hasini” introduction scene at the grand launch of Ravi Mohan Studios in Chennai.
The actress, who arrived at the event alongside her husband Riteish Deshmukh, was greeted with thunderous applause from fans and industry guests when she playfully stepped into her character Hasini once again.

Reenacting her famous line “Ha-ha-Hasini,” Genelia left the crowd nostalgic, and her co-star Ravi Mohan blushing, much to the delight of onlookers.
The duo went a step further by recreating another fan-favourite moment — the “thalai mutuna kombu varom” head-bump scene — which drew cheers and instantly went viral among fans present at the venue.

The event, which marked a milestone in Ravi Mohan’s career as he officially launched his own production house, was nothing short of a star-studded affair. , Genelia, glowing in her signature charm, walked the red carpet with Riteish, while Ravi Mohan made a dapper appearance in a classic white ensemble, accompanied by Keneeshaa Francis.

The launch was graced by some of the biggest names in South Indian cinema, including Sivakarthikeyan, Yogi Babu, Karthi, Shraddha Srinath, and Kannada superstar Shivrajkumar. Adding a familial touch to the evening, Ravi Mohan’s brother and filmmaker Mohan Raja, who directed Santosh Subramaniam, also attended to support the new chapter in his brother’s journey.
Directed by Mohan Raja and produced by Kalpathi S. Agoram, Santosh Subramaniam was released on 11 April 2008, coinciding with the Tamil New Year.

A remake of the Telugu blockbuster Bommarillu (2006), the film starred Ravi Mohan (credited on screen as Jayam Ravi) and Genelia D’Souza, along with powerhouse performers like Prakash Raj, Geetha, and Sayaji Shinde.
The film was lauded for its breezy narrative, charming romance, and emotional father-son storyline. Genelia reprised her role as Hasini from the Telugu original, while Prakash Raj also reprised his iconic father role.
The Tamil version was both a critical and commercial success, winning the third prize for Best Film at the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards in 2008 and cementing its place as a modern classic in Tamil cinema.
