With historic films capturing the audience’s hearts, driving them to travel across time, here comes Chiyaan Vikram starrer Thangalaan. With the character posters boosting the audience’s expectations, the latest trailer has taken them to the land, where people dare to die, get to live out there.
Thangalaan, or The Son of Gold, is an action historical drama by the acclaimed director PA. Ranjith. By piquing the audience’s attention with the back-to-back character posters, the makers of the film finally unveiled the trailer yesterday. The trailer has been trending since its release. The film is expected to hit the theaters on August 15. While releasing the trailer, the director wrote on his X account, “Only those who dare to die, get to live out here.”

The trailer opens on a tribal land, featuring a battleground filled with the different tribes. The story takes off with the arrival of a British official called Lord Clement, seeking help from the tribal groups. There begins the gold hunt by the tribes along with the British. Amidst the rumors of the presence of ghosts and monsters on the land, the trailer intensifies with the frustrated search for Lord Clement.
The trailer also reveals the a sorcerer played by Malavika Mohan and a breathtaking action sequence of her with Vikram, with the BGM rising over, the land turns into a battleground in the search for Gold.
Filled with the agony of the villagers, the gold search of the British, and the mysterious presence of a sorcerer, Thangalaan promises an action-filled periodic story. Interestingly, English actor Daniel Caltagirone, known for his role in the films The Pianist and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, also plays an important role in the film.

Reportedly inspired by the real incident that took place in the Kolar Gold Factory in Karnataka during British rule, the action drama is produced by Gnanavel Raja under his Studio Green banner, Neelam Productions, and Jio Studios. The film stars Vikram, alongside Malavika Mohanan, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Daniel Caltagirone, Hari Krishnan Anbudurai, Vettai Muthukumar, Arjun Anbudan and Sampath Ram.
