On Sunday, Lower Manhattan was filled with a number of lookalikes of Hollywood actor Timothée Chalamet on the occasion of the vibrant contest. The event, which drew hundreds of onlookers, ended with a dispersal order from the police and one arrest.
Exploring the screen characters of the actor, the contest brought colour to the city with its contestants dressed as the famous character of Timothee from Wonka and Dune. Making the event much more special, the Dune star Timothee himself made a special appearance, leaving the fans amazed.
Timothée, surrounded by bodyguards, briefly posed for photos with his doppelgangers. The photos of the actor among the high-cheeked, curly-haired lookalikes created a buzz on social media. Making a classy appearance, the actor adorned himself in a blue sweater, pants, cap, and a sported moustache.

But the event soon took a turn when the police ordered the large group of the fans to disperse, slapping organisers with a $500 fine for the “unpermitted costume contest.” Reports also claim that at least one contestant was taken away in handcuffs, though police did not immediately say why. A spokesperson for the NYPD said charges were pending. Due to this issue, the event was later shifted to the backup location in a nearby playground.

Interestingly, after narrowing the group down to four, the major contestants were asked about their French proficiency and their plans to make the world a better place. On a humorous note, the contestants were also asked about their romantic interest in Kylie Jenner. For the unversed, Chalamet and Jenner are said to be a couple.

A 21-year-old young fan named Miles Mitchel from Staten Island was announced as the winner of the contest. The winner dressed up as the famous character, Willy Wonka, also tossed candy to the crowd from a briefcase. As he stood next to a novelty-size check written out to “Best Tim,” a group of admirers lined up for the chance to take a photo—or exchange social media profiles—with the winner. “I’m excited, and I’m also overwhelmed,” Mitchell said. “There were so many good lookalikes. It was really a toss-up.”
