The arrest of the Kannada popular actor Darshan for the murder of a young man has left his fans in disbelief. Renuka Swamy, a 33-year-old, who was a devoted fan of the ‘Majestic star’ was allegedly abducted, tortured, and murdered by the actor. The certain horrific developments in the case have also shocked the sandalwood community.

- As per the police report, Renuka Swamy, who hails from Chitradurga’s Lakshmi Venkateswara Barangay had sent obscene messages to Pavithra Gowda as he believed that she was responsible for the rift between Darshan and his wife Vijayalakshmi.
- Gowda fed up with the harassment confided the matter to Darshan. The actor is believed to be in a relationship with Pavithra.
- Darshan instructed Raghavendra, president of Akhila Karnataka Darshan Thoogudeepa Sena to kidnap Renuka. He allegedly paid Rs 30 lakh to a gang to murder him and dispose the body.
- As per the Hindu report, Renuka Swamy got into the car voluntarily as “excited to meet his matinee idol”. He was then taken to the shed belonging to Vinay in Pattanagare where he was brutally beaten to death.
- The gang has inflicted severe injuries on him, slashing his nose, mouth and jaw. His body also showed burn marks suggesting the use of a hot iron rod.
- As per the sources, over 10 individuals including Darshan assaulted Renuka Swamy and threw him against the wall.
- The next day morning, a food delivery boy who noticed stray dogs eating a human body, alerted the police.
- Meanwhile, Renuka’s wife, three months pregnant has publicly condemned Darshan and called for justice. His parents have also come forward seeking a complete ban against Darshan. They have requested the Karnataka government to stall the release of his films in the state.
- Darshan made his acting debut with the 2002 movie Majestic. Since then, he has been featured in several commercially successful films including Roberrt, Kaatera, Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna, and Gaja.
