Uttar Pradesh: Son Kills Businessman Father Over Fear of Property Transfer to Girlfriend

Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh: Police arrested on Wednesday Subrat Manocha, son of a pharmaceutical dealer in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur for allegedly conspiring to kill his father. The son murdered his businessman father allegedly fearing that he would transfer his property to some other woman.

Vineet Manocha, the 60-year-old businessman reportedly had relationships with several women, and the son feared his father might end up transferring his property to another woman, triggering him to eliminate his father, according to the police.

On September 5, the body of Vineet was found with his throat slit in his flat in the upscale Indira Nagar area in Kanpur. He was alone at the time of the incident at his home, while his son had gone to a party with his wife, Shalu.

Though police had suspicion, they initially doubted that Vineet’s daughter-in-law can be the mastermind and arrested her. The officials also arrested their former employee, Vishal Gautam, and his associate, Rajkishore – the alleged contract killers Vishal and Rajkishore.

Police later exposed the conspiracy of Subrat after analysing the call detail records (CDRs), CCTV footage, digital and scientific evidence, recoveries and other circumstantial evidence, leading to his arrest. According to Deputy commissioner of police (West) SM Qasim Abidi, Subrat had debts of more than Rs 40 lakh through gambling and IPL betting. His father had given him around Rs 40,000 every month for his expenses, while he was paying about Rs 55,000 a month towards loan instalments.

Subrat told police that his  father had relationships with several women and feared that he would start living with another woman and transfer all his property in her name. Subrat then admitted that he planned to kill his father. Police exposed the crime by retrieving the deleted chats between Subrat and Vishal. The officials also found that their locations had coincided at several points before the murder.
