When Kajol Thought Call From Mani Ratnam Was A Prank: Karan Johar Narrates (image: instagram.com/kajol)

In the upcoming episode of “Koffee With Karan” Season 8 Kajol will be appearing as guest along with Rani Mukerji. The episode promo shows director and show host Karan Johar recalling an incident involving Kajol where he accidentally rebuffed director Mani Ratnam when he tried to reach out to her for a role in Dil Se.

Karan Johar recounted that it was during the narration of his first directorial venture Kuch Kuch Hota Hai with Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan this amusing incident occurred. When she received a call from Mani Ratnam, she thought someone was playing prank on her and hung up the call.

It was in the midst of narration of the film, and peak of an emotional moment, Karan Johar says, Kajol received the call. He said: “I remember you got a call, in the midst of this from Mani Ratnam to whom you said “Who?’ He said I am Mani Ratnam speaking and you were like “Yeah, and I am Tom Cruise,”” and put the phone down. Mani Ratnam had called her for Dil Se. She didn”t believe it was Mani Ratnam and she thought someone was playing a prank.”
