Yuvan Sankar Raja, “the BGM King” is all braced up for the release of his next big project, The GOAT. The Vijay starrer will hit silver screen on September 5th. Yuvan, the youngest son of music maestro Ilayaraj, is known for giving hits. In the much-anticipated GOAT, Yuvan composed the song “Matta”, spreading ultimate excitement among fans.
Yuvan is often credited with introducing hip-hop and starting the “era of remixes” in Tamil Nadu with his music. He is well-known for his use of Western music elements to the industry. Yuvan is referred to as the “BGM King”, and the “Young Maestro” of the Tamil Film Music.
Yuvan started his music career in 1996, when he was only 16-years-old, making him one of the youngest composers in the industry. Over the span of 25 years, Yuvan has worked on over 170 films. His debut work as a composer was Aravindhan. He got his breakthrough in Thulluvadho Ilamai. He started to be established as one of the most sought-after composers by mid 2000s.

His father Ilayaraja, and brother Karthik Raja, also sung under his direction. Yuvan is also a great playback singer, and has sung in over 80 films. Once he stated that he always wanted to become a pilot and travel “all around the world”, but as he grew up “with music around him”, he eventually became a musician.
Yuvan married thrice. In 2005, he got married to Sujaya Chandran, whom he met in London. She was his fan. The pair got divorced in 2008, with the reason given as “irreconcilable differences”. In 2011, he married Shilpa, and was later divorced.
In 2014, Yuvan converted to Islam, and legally changed his name to Abdul Haliq, but continues to use his original name professionally. He got married to Zafroon Nisa in 2015, and the pair had a baby girl in 2016.

Recently, he found himself in legal shambles. Allegations emerged that Yuvan failed to pay dues for a studio he had rented. Media report suggested that the landlord filed a complaint against Yuvan at the Nungambakkam police station. The owner alleged that he had vacated a studio without paying Rs 20 lakh as rent.
Yuvan denied the allegations and said that the landlord is making false accusations to tarnish his reputation. He also decided to sue the landlord, who is a lady, for defamation, and demanded Rs 5 crore in damages for the alleged false complaint.
