The buzz around Thalapathy Vijay’s political thriller, Jana Nayagan, never seems to end. Even though there is not much update from the makers, the H. Vinoth directorial has been making headlines for quite some time. So, is Jana Nayagan the remake of Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari? Here is an update.

As per arecent report, the makers of Jana Nayagan have bought the remake rights of the Telugu film. But it doesn’t mean that the Vijay film is a remake of the Telugu entertainer. Because the makers have reportedly acquired the rights to a particular scene from the film.

The 2023-released Telugu action entertainer depicts a scene of “Good Touch, Bad Touch” in the movie. Inspired by the scene, the makers plan to adapt the scene in the upcoming Vijay film to add a deeper layer to the narrative.

The remake rights for the single scene were bought by the makers of Jana Nayagan for Rs 4.5 crores. For those who are unaware, the original scene from Nandamuri Balakrishna’s starrer included him and Sreeleela.

Apart from this, the rest of Vijay’s political thriller will follow the narratives by H. Vinoth. Moreover, reports also claim that the actor will be playing the role of police officer in the film. The recently leaked footage of the film’s production unveiled his cop look.

 

Bhagavanth Kesari

Bhagavanth Kesari, the Telugu action drama, stars  Nandamuri Balakrishna in the titular role alongside Kajal Aggarwal, Sreeleela and Arjun Rampal, among others. Directed by Anil Ravipudi, the film received mixed reviews from the audience and emerged to be a blockbuster, collecting Rs 130 crore at the box office.

Produced by Shine Screens, it also received praise for Nandamuri Balakrishna’s performance and the high-octane action sequences. The film revolves around a young girl’s journey to join the Indian army to fulfill her father’s dream.

Vijay’s supposed final film, Jana Nayagan, is expected to offer a crucial political message packed with the cinematic elements by director H. Vinoth. Produced by KVN Productions, the film stars prominent figures of the industry like Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Gautham Vasudev Menon, and Narain, among others.

Jana Nayagan, the 69th film of the actor, is scheduled to be released as a Pongal special entertainer on January 9, 2026. The music is composed by the trending music director Anirudh Ravichander. With Sathyan Sooryan handling cinematography and Philomin Raj taking charge of editing, the film promises to be a technically sound and visually striking film.
