“How Do You Compete With Someone Of His Stature?” Sudha Kongara Reacts To Jana Nayagan Delay
Filmmaker Sudha Kongara has reacted to the delay surrounding Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming film Jana Nayagan, which is currently facing certification issues with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Her comments come amid discussions about the film’s postponed release and its expected box-office clash with her recent release, Parasakthi.
Sudha Kongara, whose film Parasakthi starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sreeleela released in theatres on January 10, was initially set to clash with Jana Nayagan.
However, Vijay’s film was delayed just days before its scheduled release, reportedly due to unresolved CBFC concerns.
Speaking in a recent interview, Sudha Kongara expressed disappointment over the situation and made it clear that she had no intention of competing with Vijay’s film.
Jana Nayagan Release Uncertain As Supreme Court Refuses To Intervene
Calling herself a huge fan of Vijay, the director said she was eagerly looking forward to watching Jana Nayagan on its first day.
Reacting to the delay, Sudha said that such last-minute hurdles should not happen to any film. She pointed out that when a big star like Vijay releases a movie, there is no real competition.
“How do you compete with someone of his stature?” she remarked, stressing that all films deserve fair and timely treatment.
Sudha also clarified that Parasakthi was never positioned as a rival to Jana Nayagan. She reiterated that her focus has always been on storytelling, not box-office battles.

Earlier, the director had also addressed reports suggesting that Vijay fans were trying to impact Parasakthi’s theatrical performance, stating that unnecessary fan wars only harm cinema as a whole.
Jana Nayagan, directed by H. Vinoth, is a Tamil political action thriller starring Vijay, Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, and Mamitha Baiju. The film is especially significant as it is expected to be Vijay’s final film before his full-time entry into politics.
The film was originally scheduled to release on January 9, 2026, but remains unreleased due to ongoing CBFC issues. An official new release date has not yet been announced.
