However, the film has landed in a controversy after allegations surfaced that the production team violated Kodaikanal’s strict ban on plastic water bottles.
The region enforces a complete prohibition on 1-litre and 2-litre water bottles as a part of its environmental protection measures. The rules have been implemented rigorously, with governmental officials checking every vehicle entering the area.
As per reports, despite this strict regulation, the crew of Jana Nayagan used restricted plastic bottles during their shoot in the region.
The issue has raised concerns among the residents and environmental activists, who have now begun questioning the crew’s irresponsible behaviour. Locals also questioned why tourists face strict checks and penalties while film crews are seemingly allowed to operate freely. Many have voiced concerns over the double standards in enforcement and are urging authorities to take appropriate actions.
