Elephants are known for demonstrating exceptional mental capabilities. The biggies of the forest are exceptionally smart creatures. Beneath the thick skin and huge tusks of their gigantic bodies lies gentle hearts. Elephants are one among very few animals that possess emotional intelligence. This “gentle giants” of the forest are fiercely protective of their little one, who are often very naughty. They tend to protect their calf from dangers and harsh sun light by pushing the latter under their body.
Supriya Sahu, IAS officer shared one of such captivating video clip that showed a little elephant family taking a nap. Known for sharing amazing wildlife videos, Sahu shared the video captured by wildlife photographer Dhanu Paran. He took the video for the Tamil Nadu Forest Department. The video featured four bigger elephants providing a cocoon of protection for one tiny elephant who sleeping blissfully on a lush green bed of grass. The baby elephant was also seen tapping around to ensure others presence, and returned to its happy nap.

The video was taken from deep jungles of Anamalai Tiger Reserve. Drawing parallel between the elephant kinship with our own, Sahu described the cocoon of protection as “Z class security by the family”.
