At Least 10 Children Killed In Jhansi Hospital Fire

A devastating fire at the Jhansi Medical College in Uttar Pradesh claimed the lives of at least ten children on Friday evening. The blaze broke out around 10:35 pm in the children’s ward, reportedly due to a short circuit, creating a stampede-like situation as thick smoke filled the area.

Medical staff and doctors acted swiftly, breaking windows to evacuate patients. Despite their efforts, the fire caused significant casualties. Jhansi’s district magistrate, Avinash Kumar, confirmed the deaths and stated, “A committee has been formed to investigate the cause of the fire. While many children were rescued, initial information indicates that ten children lost their lives.”

Heartbreaking scenes unfolded outside the hospital as grieving families mourned their loss. A distraught mother lamented, “My baby has burnt to death.”

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his sorrow over the tragedy, calling it “extremely sad and heartbreaking.” In a tweet, he instructed the district administration and officials to expedite rescue and relief operations.

Authorities are investigating the incident, while the hospital faces scrutiny for potential safety lapses that led to this tragic loss of innocent lives.
