Paresh Rawal has made headlines following his bizarre claim, where he said that he drank his urine for 15 days to speed up his recovery after a knee injury. Dr Cyriac Abby Philips, a hepatologist popularly known as “The Liver Doc”, warned people not to follow the harmful advice and slammed the actor for making such remarks to “stay alive in the media”.
During an interview with Lallantop on April 27, the actor shared that during the shooting of Rajkumar Santoshi’s Ghatak, he suffered from a knee injury. While he was admitted at the Nanvati hospital, action choreographer Veeru Devgan, Ajay Devgn’s father, advised Rawal to drink the first urine of the day in the morning to recover from his knee injury.

Claiming that “all action people do that”, Rawal recalled that apart from the unconventional advice, Devgan also advised him to avoid alcohol, smoking, and red meat during the healing process.
“I had decided if I had to drink my own urine, I’ll not have it at one go; I’ll sip it like beer. Because I want to do it properly,” the actor told Lallantop.
Rawal claimed that he drank his own urine for 15 days; when the doctor took his X-ray, he was shocked to find a “white line forming”. The veteran actor claimed that while he was supposed to discharge in 2-2.5 months, he was discharged in 1.5 months.
“It was like magic,” Rawal observed.

The Liver Doc highlighted that there is no scientific evidence to support the idea that consuming urine has any health benefits.
“In fact, consuming urine can be harmful, potentially introducing bacteria, toxins, and other harmful substances into the bloodstream. Your kidneys work very hard to remove toxic stuff out of your body through urine. Don’t insult it by putting it back in,” he emphasised in an X post.
Explaining how urine is not sterile, the Liver Doc elaborated how urine is a combination of salts and chemicals that the human body removes. These chemicals can cause significant health problems if consumed.

Slamming the actor for his remarks, the hepatologist called Rawal “the perfect example of the Indian WhatsApp Boomer Uncle”.
Meanwhile, the internet trolled the actor for his statements. “Ask him to do a live demo,” quipped one netizen while another observed, “Actors are well trained to act in front of camera and its their primary job to act otherwise they cant earn bread and butter. So stop trusting such actors.”
