Akshay Kumar To Sue Paresh Rawal After Rs 25 Crore Demand Halts Hera Pheri 3: Report

Amid much excitement for Priyadarshan’s Hera Pheri 3‘s return, the film has witnessed an abrupt halt. A few days after Paresh Rawal announced his decision to step away from the film, Akshay Kumar has decided to pursue legal action against the actor. According to reports, Rawal had demanded a hefty sum of Rs 25 crore for his role in the comedy film, which seems not to have gone well with Akshay, reported India Today.

On May 18, Rawal took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle to announce that he was stepping away from Hera Pheri 3. Although he did not reveal the reason behind the sudden decision, he clarified that it was not due to any creative difference.

“I REITERATE THAT THERE ARE NO CREATIVE DISAGREEMENT WITH THE FILM MAKER . I hold immense love, respect, and faith in Mr. Priyadarshan the film director,” he stated.

However, a recent report by India Today revealed that the real reason behind Rawal’s exit was his demand for Rs 25 crore as his fee. The report stated that the actor felt that the film would work because of the nostalgia of his character, Babu Rao, a beloved character, and that he needed to hike the fee. This reportedly irked Kumar, who refused to give in to the actor’s demand.

Kumar is reportedly seeking to sue Rawal for exiting the film midway. Following his sudden exit, shoot for the film remains at a standstill.

The Hera Pheri franchise began with the 2000 film directed by Priyadarshan, starring Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal. Its sequel, Phir Hera Pheri (2006) was directed by Neeraj Vora and continued the story of the trio’s misadventures. Both films have gained cult status over the years for their comedy and memorable dialogues.

Among massive demand, when the trio announced their return as the iconic characters with Priyadarshan at the helm, fans were overjoyed. But the latest update seems to have put all plans to a halt.

Meanwhile, Rawal reunited with Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar in the horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla which also stars Wamiqa Gabbi and Tabu, which was wrapped today and is scheduled for release in 2026. He is also working on another film titled Welcome to the Jungle, the third part of the 2007 classic Welcome.
