Debates surrounding actress Poonam Pandey faking her own death to raise awareness about carnival cancer have grabbed the attention of the public since the odd event took place last week. Amid the discussions about whether the actress was right in faking her death to campaign for vaccination against cervical cancer, health ministry officials have reportedly said that Poonam Pandey is not the government’s cervical cancer campaign ambassador.
The explanation from the ministry came reportedly after some sources claimed that the Poonam will be part of the government’s campaign to combat cervical cancer.
Poonam’s death news had dominated the news headlines when the actress announced her death due to carnival cancer on her Instagram page, leaving the fans in shock. News outlets run breaking stories about the death news of the actress for almost an entire day. For their credibility, media houses even approached the PR team of the actress to confirm the death news and the PR team of Poonam too confirmed her death citing the actress’ sister.
However, it was in the absence of the final rituals that many suspected that Poonam could be faking her death, especially at a time when the Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman discussed the cervical cancer in the interim budget held last month.
Making the suspicions true, the actress suddenly appeared on her Instagram page, admitting that she faked her own death to raise awareness about cervical cancer.
In the video she posted, she said, “Yes, I faked my demise, extreme I know. But suddenly we all are talking about cervical cancer, aren”t we?” Poonam Pandey said. “I am proud of what my death news has been able to achieve.”
“Cervical cancer didn”t claim me, but tragically, it has claimed the lives of thousands of women who stemmed from a lack of knowledge on how to tackle the disease,” Poonam added while talking about the disease.
