Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several projects including Educational Institutions and Other Infrastructure developmental projects at the Maulana Aza Stadium, Jammu Today, on February 20.
PM Modi worth over Rs 32,000 crore relates to several sectors including Health, Education, Rail, Road, Aviation, Petroleum, and Civic Infrastructure among others. PM will also distribute appointment orders to about 1500 new government employees of Jammu and Kashmir. He will also address beneficiaries of government schemes under the ‘Viksit Bharat Viksit Jammu’ program.
Education Projects
Among all, upgrading and developing education and skilling infrastructure across the country comprises projects worth about Rs 13,375 crore.
PM Modi will inaugurate permanent campuses and improved infrastructure projects in several higher educational institutions across the country. Two permanent campuses of IITs, including IIT Bhilai and IIT Tirupati, and 3 IIMs, including IIM Visakhapatnam, IIM Jammu, and IIM Bodh Gaya will be inaugurated at the event. Additionally, other permanent institutes include IITDM Kurnool, Central Sanskrit University at Devprayag (Uttarakhand), and Agartala (Tripura).

Improved infrastructure projects like hostels academic blocs, administrative buildings, libraries, auditoriums, etc in IITs, at Jammu, Delhi, Kharagpur, Bombay; NITs, at Durgapur, Arunachal Pradesh, Delhi, IISER Behrampur, IIIT Lucknow and the Central University of Kerala Kasargod will also be inaugurated and dedicated to the nation.
Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of projects for upgrading the infrastructure and construction of facilities at the permanent campus of Sindhu Central University, IIIT Raichur, IIT Bombay, IIT Gandhinagar, and BHU, among others.
PM Modi will also inaugurate the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Vijaypur (Samba), Jammu. Its foundation stone was laid in February 2019 under the Central sector scheme Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna.
Other Infrastructure Projects
A new terminal building spread over a 40,000 sqm area to cater to about 2000 passengers will be inaugurated at Jammu Airport. The building will be environmentally friendly and represent the culture of the region. The project will boost tourism and economic growth by providing air connectivity.
A new Rail Line between Banihal-Khari-Sumber-Sangaldan (48 Km) and the first newly electrified Baramulla-Sringar-Banihal-Sangaldan section (185.66 Km) will also be inaugurated. The significance of the Banihal-Khari-Sumber-Sangaldan segment lies in its use of Ballast Less Track (BLT) across the route, which improves passenger comfort. Also, this section between Khari and Sumber contains the T-50, India”s longest transportation tunnel (12.77 km).
Several road projects include 44.22 Km of Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, Phase Two for the four-lane Srinagar Ring Road, the upgradation of the 161 km long Srinagar-Baramulla-Uri Stretch of NH-01, and the construction of Kulgam Bypass & Pulwama bypass on NH-444. These projects will provide connectivity to holy shrines including Mata Vaishno Devi, and Kheer Bhawani Temple, and also boost tourism and economic development.
CUF (Common User Facility) Petroleum depot at Jammu and several development projects worth more than Rs 3150 crore will be inaugurated or founded.
