10-Year-Old Girl Collapses In Noida School: Mother Alleges Negligence, Calls For Justice
Eighteen days after the tragic death of 10-year-old Tanishka Sharma, a Class 6 student of Presidium School in Sector 31, her family continues to seek answers.
The girl, described by her mother as “hale and hearty” before leaving for school on September 4, collapsed outside the washroom shortly after lunch and was declared dead at Kailash Hospital.
The incident has left her parents devastated, with the mother, Tripta Sharma, accusing the school of negligence and demanding a formal police investigation. “My daughter was in good health that morning. The suddenness of her collapse and the contradictory versions offered by the school raise serious questions that cannot be ignored,” she wrote in her police complaint filed on September 8.
Eighteen days on, Tanishka’s mother has posted a video appeal online, urging authorities to file an FIR ensuring a thorough probe. Calling her daughter “her entire world,” she accused the school of withholding clarity on the events leading to the death. “We have not received proper answers from the school administration. I want justice for my daughter,” she said in the video.

According to the family, the school initially told them that Tanishka fainted while eating. Later, they were informed she had collapsed while coming down the stairs after using the washroom.
Her uncle, Vaibhav Sharma, alleged that staff wasted precious time trying to treat her in the infirmary instead of taking her straight to a hospital. “This delay may have cost her life,” he said.

Police confirmed that no external injuries were found during the autopsy. The cause of death remains uncertain, and viscera samples have been preserved for forensic analysis.
On September 8, four days after the tragedy, the family submitted a written complaint to the police demanding registration of an FIR against the school management. The mother’s plea highlights what she calls “multiple and inconsistent statements” from the staff, and questions the adequacy of the school’s emergency preparedness.
“The school has failed to give a clear explanation even now. These conflicting accounts suggest an attempt to cover up negligence,” the family alleged.

When contacted by Timeline, the Presidium School administration reiterated its earlier stand that Tanishka “choked on food particles during lunch” and that staff immediately rushed her to the hospital. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of our student. The school is fully cooperating with the police in their procedures,” the school admin said, declining to comment further on the ongoing inquiry.
