The Election Commission of India has announced the dates of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections. As per the poll schedule, the state will vote on May 13, 2024. The counting of votes will be held alongside the counting for Lok Sabha polls 2024 on June 4.

The last date for making nominations will be April 25, and the last date for withdrawing nominations will be April 29. The date of the scrutiny of nominations will be April 26. The announcement regarding the elections to elect 175 members of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly came in a press conference held by the Election Commission of India today, March 16.

It is worth mentioning that a party is required to secure a minimum of 88 seats to prove the majority in the Andhra Pradesh assembly. In the previous Assembly elections, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) had registered a significant victory in the state. In the 2019 polls, YSRCP, under the leadership of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, secured 151 assembly seats. The party also had a vote share of around 49.5 percent. However, the Telugu Desham Party managed to win only 23 assembly constituencies. Meanwhile, the Jana Sena Party marked victory in only one assembly seat in Andhra Pradesh in 2019.
