3 Die As Nellore-Hyderabad Bus With 36 On Board Crashes Into Container Lorry In Andhra Pradesh

Nandyal, Andhra Pradesh: At least three people lost their lives after a bus  travelling from Nellore to Hyderabad with 36 passengers on board crashed into a container lorry in Andhra Pradesh’s Nandyal district on Thursday early morning.

The bus tyre burst losing control and crossing the road divider, ramming into the container lorry coming from the other direction. The tyre bust ignited massive fire that killed the two drivers and the bus cleaner. All 36 passengers escaped fatalities thanks to a passing truck driver who smashed open windows and doors, with locals, police, and fire crews helping them flee.

Over 10 passengers suffered burns or injuries and are stable at Nandyal Government General Hospital; police cite the tyre burst as the likely cause and are investigating the fire’s origin. The incident occurred near  Shirivellametta village on the Nandyal-Allagadda National Highway.

People could escape as the DCM vehicle driver, passing by the area, spotted the blaze, immediately stopping and running to help passengers. The driver broke the bus windows and helped the 36 passengers escape, averting major casualties. Many passengers jumped out through the windows to save their lives.

Madhusudan, inspector, Sirivellametta, said that the injured passengers have been shifted to the hospital.
