Pawan Kalyan Orders Theatre Reforms: Regulation In Ticket, Food Prices In Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, on Tuesday, directed officials to ensure systematic theatre management and regulations over food, beverage and ticket prices across the state. He said producers must seek ticket price hikes through the Telugu Film Chamber (TFC), not individually, including for his upcoming film Hari Hari Veera Mallu.
According to Cinematography Minister K. Durgesh, Kalyan addressed some of the rising concerns over overpriced popcorn, drinks, ticket rate hikes, hygiene and more, over the quality of experience offered in theatres.
“The government departments must perform their duties diligently, ensuring fair practices in pricing and operations,” Kalyan said.

Regarding the ongoing issue of increasing ticket prices, Pawan Kalyan instructed producers and related individuals to approach the government through the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce (TFC) for any act of ticket price hikes during new film releases.
He also added that even for his upcoming film, the producer should approach the government through TFC by submitting an application.
Moreover, the discussion also shed light on the growing concerns over the increased cost of snacks and beverages in cinema halls. He also has asked the relevant department officials to regularly monitor and control these praises.
The state government has also taken note of monopolistic practices in multiplexes and single-screen theatres and has ordered a detailed investigation, along with appropriate corrective steps.
He said that audiences should not hesitate to visit cinema halls with their families due to the high prices of snacks and drinks. The Deputy CM also highlighted that lowering prices would increase audience turnout, thereby increasing revenue. Talking about theatre hygiene, he stated that providing drinking water and maintaining hygiene in theatres are the minimum responsibilities of theatre owners, and local authorities should ensure compliance.
