Pawan Kalyan's 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu' Faces Mixed Reviews: Fans Question Need For Part 2

Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu has finally hit theatres after years of anticipation, opening to mixed reviews but registering solid numbers on day one. Despite its grandeur and star-studded cast, audience reactions have been divided, especially regarding the film’s second half.

The epic action drama, directed by Krish Jagarlamudi and A.M. Jyothi Krishna, was envisioned as a two-part saga. However, the makers had previously announced that the production of Part 2 would depend on the reception of the first instalment. With that context, the current online chatter has taken an unexpected turn. Let’s look at what social media is saying.

According to him, the first half was just passable and lacked the kind of momentum or emotional grip that a historical epic demands. The second half, he felt, failed to deliver entirely, weakened by poor writing and an underwhelming climax.

He also noted that the visual effects were subpar, describing certain scenes as rushed and unpolished. While he didn’t entirely dismiss the effort behind the film, he admitted that it left him feeling more sad than angry, particularly because he had hoped for a stronger cinematic comeback for Pawan Kalyan.

Another one wrote: “Hari Hara Veera Mallu is a visceral tableau of subaltern resistance and mythic valour.Pawan Kalyan emanates sovereign gravitas, while Krish conjures a visual epic steeped in baroque opulence and anti-imperial fervour. A cinematic paean to unsung legacy.”

Another viewer rated the film 2.98 out of 5, calling it overall disappointing. He remarked that while M. M. Keeravani’s background score was “perfect,” especially during the first 30 minutes, but the film quickly lost steam.

He felt that Pawan Kalyan’s performance strained the viewer’s patience, lacking the emotional depth and intensity expected from a lead role in a period drama.

On the other hand, he praised Nidhhi Agerwal’s performance, calling it “outstanding,” but lamented that her talent was underutilized in a script that failed to give her character real substance. Despite moments of technical brilliance, the viewer concluded that the film ultimately did not live up to expectations.
