A tragic accident in Jammu and Kashmir“s Doda claimed the lives of at least 38 individuals, with 17 others sustaining injuries when a bus plunged into a gorge. Out of the 19 injured, six cases are serious. The bus, according to reports, lost control near Trungal-Assar on the Batote-Kishtwar national highway, skidding off the road and tumbling 300 feet downhill. Union minister Dr Jitendra Singh said the injured are being shifted to District Hospital Kishtwar and Government Medical Collage, Doda as per requirement.
“Helicopter service to be arranged for shifting the more injured ones. All possible help, as required being provided. I am in constant touch,” the minister said.
The local authorities, including the police and the rescue teams, rushed into the incident scene to initiate rescue operations and asses the extend of the tragedy. SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom who supervised the rescue operation has informed that 38 people died in the incident, reports Hindustan Times.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi express grief over the bus accident said the news is distressing.

President Droupadi Murmu expressed her condolences. “I am deeply saddened by the news of the unfortunate death of several passengers in a bus accident in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. I express my condolences to the bereaved family members and pray for the speedy recovery of those injured,” Murmu said in a post on X in Hindi.
