As Bengal Governor Announces Boycott of Mamata Banerjee, X Notices Something Else From His Video Address

Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose has announced a social boycott of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. In a video address, he stated that this boycott entails not sharing any public platform or meeting space with the Chief Minister. Referring to her as “Lady Macbeth,” the Governor criticised the widespread violence in the state, citing unrest in cities, towns, villages, and hospitals.

While the Governor’s message made waves, it was his use of a teleprompter that caught the attention of social media users. The teleprompter was reflected in the Ray-Ban sunglasses he wore during the video. This sparked a flurry of comments on X, formerly Twitter, with one user humorously pointing out, “Will someone tell uncleji that if he wears his Ray-Ban shades while filming, people will see the teleprompter reflected on the glasses?” Another user questioned, “Is it really necessary to wear sunglasses indoors at night?”

In his statement, the Governor said, “I will socially boycott the Chief Minister. Socially means I will never share any stage with the Chief Minister. I will not attend any meeting where the Chief Minister is present.” He further stated that he would take action against Banerjee for allegedly violating Constitutional provisions, stressing that his role would be confined to fulfilling his Constitutional duties.

Governor Bose expressed his commitment to the people of Bengal, specifically to the parents of a victim at RG Kar Medical College and those fighting for justice. He criticised the government for failing in its responsibilities and made a pointed remark about Mamata Banerjee holding both the health and home portfolios, suggesting this dual role has led to a failure in governance.

The Governor also voiced his displeasure with the state government for disregarding his recommendation to take action against Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal. The Commissioner has been accused by protesting students of mishandling the investigation into the rape and murder of a junior doctor at RG Kar Medical College.

While the Governor’s strong words against Mamata Banerjee dominated headlines, it was the teleprompter which was clearly visible on the sunglasses that gained traction online, turning an otherwise serious political message into a viral moment.
