BJP Leader Booked For Allegedly Molesting Woman Police Officer During Nitin Gadkari’s Pune Visit

Pune, Maharashtra: Pune Police have booked Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Pramod Kondhare following a complaint by a woman police inspector after he allegedly touched her inappropriately during Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s visit to the city on Monday. 

The incident reportedly occurred near Shaniwar Wada, where a crowd had assembled to welcome Gadkari. While managing the crowd, the woman inspector alleged that Kondhare, who is the BJP’s Pune city general secretary, touched her inappropriately on two occasions, leaving her feeling humiliated.

She promptly alerted her seniors and later filed a formal complaint with Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar. 

Based on the complaint, CCTV footage from the scene was reviewed as part of the investigation. The Faraskhana Police Station has registered a case under Sections 74 and 75(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).  

However, Kondhare has not been arrested yet. 

Senior Police Inspector Prashant Bhasme confirmed to The Free Press Journal, “The case has been registered under Sections 74 and 75(1) of the BNS. The matter is under investigation.” 

Kondhare has denied the allegations, stating, “I was only present at the event as per the party’s instructions and did not misbehave with any woman officer.”

Amid the controversy, BJP’s Pune City President Dheeraj Ghate said Kondhare has resigned from his post. “He has sent his resignation to me. He said that he will not continue in office until the incident is investigated. We have accepted his resignation,” Ghate said. 

Kasba Peth MLA Hemant Rasane told the publication that he was not aware of the incident as he was currently engaged in the Palkhi procession. 

The investigation is ongoing, and police have stated that further legal action will be taken based on the findings.
