Chhattisgarh Man Alleges Police Slapped Him At Late-Night Checkpoint While Travelling With Family
Arjuni, Chhattisgarh: A young man travelling with his wife and child was allegedly assaulted by the Arjuni police station in charge while returning after watching a movie. The incident happened at around 1 am near Mujgahan-Potiadih bypass under Arjuni police station limits.
The security officers stopped the motorcycle that man and his family were travelling. After the man started recording, the police assaulted the man in front of his family, sparking controversy and demanding accountability on citizens’ rights to record officials during such stops.

Police said that the motorcycle’s front number plate was broken, and the rider’s late-night movement appeared suspicious. The officials reportedly asked the motorcyclist about his identity, vehicle documents and the reason for travelling at that midnight.
However, the situation turned into a confrontation when they started recording the interaction after the officers allegedly behaved rudely with him. The police said that the rider did not cooperate and became aggressive when questioned, leading to the confrontation. The man claims he was only trying to document the police conduct because he felt he was being unnecessarily harassed despite travelling with his family.

The police allowed the man to leave after verifying his address while directing him to appear at the police station the next day with his identity, vehicle and rental documents.
The video shot by the man, shows the man submitting the movie ticket to the police. After the argument, the police officer is seen grabbing the man while trying to catch his phone.
