“One part of the problem in Manipur has been the destabilising impact of migrants who have come. That”s one aspect of it. There are tensions which obviously have a long history that precede that. Today, the effort is on part of the state and Union government to find a way so that normalcy return, that arms which were seized are recovered, and that there is adequate law and order enforcement so that incidents of violence don”t happen”, he said on issues regarding Manipur.

Earlier, during the 16th session of the UN Expert Mechanism on Rights of Indigenous People which was held at Geneva, Switzerland raised the question of urgently addressing the rising conflict on India and Myanmar border.  United Nation has also pronounced alarm adhering to the serious human rights violations in the Manipur state of India. The act of violations included extrajudicial killing, forced displacement and sexual harassment. UN accused India of an “inadequate humanitarian response”. India called the allegation “unwarranted, presumptive and misleading.

Upon asked about the fading image of India, the country which appears gearing up its power in the face of world, Mr. Jaishankar called the allegations “ideological agenda, factual biases, factual distortion”.

Meanwhile, the ethnic conflict erupted in the north eastern state in India, which started in May is still flaring. After five months of internet ban, the government has lifted the ban on Saturday only to re-impose it on Tuesday until October 1. The ban was result of student protest upon the circulation of images of two students who were murdered by unknown armed miscreants. CBI Special Director Ajay Batnagar will arrive at Manipur to investigate the murder of the students.
