Congress Criticizes BJP Leaders Over Their $4 Trillion Economy Claim

The Congress party on Monday unleashed a fresh attack on BJP leaders over their bogus claim of India becoming a $4 trillion economy. In a post, Congress General Secretary characterized the claim as an attempt to generate euphoria. He described the move as a higher sycophancy and miserable attempt of headline management.

“Between 2:45 pm and 6:45 pm yesterday, when the nation was glued to watching the cricket match, various drumbeaters of the Modi Govt including senior Union ministers from Rajasthan and Telangana, the Deputy CM of Maharashtra, as well as the PM’s most favored businessman, tweeted that yesterday itself India’s GDP had crossed the $4 trillion mark,” Jairam Ramesh wrote in his post.

In a desperate move on Sunday, some of the BJP leaders and billionaire Gautam Adani had claimed that India had become a $4 trillion economy. However, in the wake of the reports, which cleared the fog stating that the claim was fake, Adani deleted his post. But the BJP leaders maintained their social media posts intact.

According to the Business Standard, the information was incorrect, given the fact that India is being dragged behind the $4 trillion GDP milestone.

A report pointed out the difficulty of having live GDP data as it lags.

“Congratulations, India. Another two years to go before India becomes the 3rd largest nation in terms of Global GDP by overtaking Japan at $4.4 trillion and Germany at $4.3 trillion. The Tricolour surge continues! Jai Hind,” Adani said on the social media platform X.

Many political leaders, including Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, hailed the achievement.

“India’s moment of global glory as our GDP crosses $4 Trillion. The rise of #NewIndia under PM @narendramodi ji’s leadership is truly unparalleled,” Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said in a post on X.
