"Assam: Not For Sale": Congress Releases AI Video Showing Tribal Land Grab, Hailed 'Tit-For-Tat'

Dispur, Assam: After the Assam Congress filed a police complaint over an AI-generated video pushed by the BJP regarding alleged illegal migrants, the grand old party’s state unit on Friday released an AI content titled ‘Assam not for sale.’

The video shows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s caricature calling Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s telling him that the former’s friend wanted to launch a factory in the north-east state. The chief minister is heard downplaying the people of Assam while agreeing to the demand.

When talking about the owner of the factory, the video shows a caricature of billionaire Gautam Adani, directing the Assam chief minister that he needed 3000 bighas of tribal land in the state to start his factory.

The AI video then shows the tribal people’s protest led by the Congress asserting that they will not allow their land to be grabbed, stating, “Assam not for sale.”

Notably, the state BJP social media handle has recently released an AI video claiming Bangladeshi Muslim are a threat to indigenous communities. The Congress filed a formal complaint against the post, noting that the saffron party is spreading hate and communal division in the state. Congress argued that recent legal changes — including the Citizenship Amendment Act of 2019 and later measures — have undermined Assam’s special status and its agreed protections, while warning that expanding citizenship on the basis of religion would erode Assam’s culture and demography.

Leader of the Opposition in Assam, Debabrata Saikia, said the people of Assam — Hindu or Muslim — do not accept foreigners mixing into its social fabric. “Foreigners are foreigners, whatever their religion,” the Congress leader said.
