Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh has issued a statement on the controversial Adani issue. The statement was issued in the context of ‘Hum Adani ke Hain Kaun (HAHK)’, a series of questions raised by the Congress party on “how the Adani Group was allowed to bag the Dharavi Redevelopment Project” on February 27 and April 23 this year.
In the statement he talked about the “policy change that benefits only Adani”. The statement alleged that the reason behind Adani was able to bag the Dharavi project in 2022 with a bid of “5,069 crore, lower by 2,131 crore than the original winning bid in 2018”, was because “the Maharashtra Urban Redevelopment Department – which had originally expressed its reservation about the rules – has been compelled to issue a notification that removes the provision of indexation in Dharavi’s real estate Transferable Development rights (TDR)”.
Mr. Ramesh ended his statement with a question that asked, “is there no sector of economy that is not being converted into a Modi-made Monopoly (3M) for his friends? What is the nature of this strong Electoral Bond between the BJP and Adani?”.
“It is now reported that the Maharashtra Urban Development Department has been compelled to issue a notification that removes the provision of indexation in Dharavi’s real estate Transferable Development Rights (TDR) and made in mandatory for all Mumbai builders to buy the first… pic.twitter.com/GQ4Q7RqFki

Adani Group did not provide any immediate response to the accusation. Congress has been behind Adani Group winning the Dharavi Redevelopment Project, accusing the group of benefitting from BJP. After the result from Hindenburg Research Group”s result, the party demanded a JPC probe into the issue. Hindenburg Research Group accused Adani Group for engaging “brazen stock manipulation and accounting fraud scheme” over decades. Adani Group said the accusation was “targeted misinformation”.
