Crack In Statue Of Unity: X User Booked For Spreading Fault News
A user on the X platform has got busted as an FIR was filed against the handle for claiming that cracks have been seen on the world’s tallest statue in India, the Statue of Unity (SOU). The deputy collector in Narmada district lodged a complaint against the X account handle ‘RaGa4India’. The images were posted on September 8th and went viral as soon as he pointed out that cracks had appeared in the statue.
This X handle has more than 26,000 followers who shared the photos of SOU which was built as a tribute to Sardar Vallabhai Patel, including one close-up shot of the statue’s visible leg gaps. The handle wrote a caption in Hindi: “Kabhi bhi gir sakti hain. Daraar padna shuru ho gayi,” (It is about to fall, as the cracks have appeared).

Following this post, many have shared this fault news and a user wrote on X: “The Statue of Unity, which was built for Rs 3000 crore, is now developing cracks in its walls. This is a clear proof of corruption and dishonesty. It seems that Modi is either in the grip of dishonest people or he is sheltering them. If the countrymen do not wake up even now, our country will be completely looted. Raise your voice in time, otherwise, it will be too late.”

However, after a few hours the X handle ‘RaGa4India’ posted another update saying that the matter was cross-checked and found that the image is said to be during the time of construction. Users also pointed out that the image seemed to be too old and criticised the account for posting it without verifying. Later, an FIR was filed by Abhishek Sinha, deputy collector on Monday under section (353) for circulating false information which may create a panicking situation among compatriots.
