“India stands with the people of Manipur”, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing the nation on the occasion of 77th Independence Day. He was speaking after unfurling the national flag at the Red Fort in New Delhi on Tuesday morning.

“The era of serial blasts” has marked an end and the nation is witnessing a drop in “the number of terror attacks”, said Mr. Modi in his 90 minutes speech.

“Today, we have demography, democracy and diversity – these three together have the ability to realize the dreams of the nation”, he added. Along with the empowerment of women, he ensured better future for the young population of the country.

He also marked the importance of “peace” in his speech. The path of solution to the ongoing violence in Manipur can be found only through “peace”, he said. It”s been three months since Manipur, the Northeastern State of India, has started burning due to severe ethnic clashes.

“In the past few weeks, during the period of violence in the North East, especially in Manipur, many people lost their lives, and the honor of mothers and daughters suffered a lot, but in the last few days, there are reports of peace. The nation is with Manipur,” the Prime Minister said.

“A new world order is under construction after the Covid 19 pandemic”, he said after wishing the nation Independence Day. “And it is similar to the one brought about by the end of World War II”, he added.

According to India Today, “The nation”s approach to women led development”, said Mr. Modi. He also expressed confidence that India would become a developed nation by 2047 and will be among the top global economies in the next five years.

The government has also changed its perspective of thinking about the “border villages” through its “Vibrant Villages Scheme”, reported the Indian Express.  “The village on the border is not India’s last village, as was said before, it is the first village of the country,” PM said.

“India now identified as “Vishwamitra””, Mr. Modi said announcing the launch of Vishwakarma Yojana for barbers and goldsmiths with an initial spending of Rs.13,000-15,000 crore.

1800 special guests from various walks of life are also part of today”s celebrations. It included people like Sarpanches (the head of the village), teachers, farmers, and fishermen. Fifty nurses from across the country with their families were also invited as special guests.

The invitation is “in recognition of our efforts during Covid”, said Anita Tomar, the Nursing Officer in Delhi. “On behalf of the entire nursing community, I would like to thank PM Modi and the Government of India from the bottom of my heart”, she added in gratitude.

The event will also mark a conclusion for “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” celebrations, which is an initiative of the Union government to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of India”s Independence. It also admired the history people living here, their culture, and achievements.
