Former IAS Officer V. K. Pandian Joins BJD Of Odisha

K. Pandian joined BJD (Biju Janata Dal). Putting all the guessworks to rest, the Odisha Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik’s trusted aide joined the BJD party on Monday. The 5 T chairman and a former bureaucrat joined the party at the presence of the party’s supremo Naveen Patnaik and other top leaders.

 

 

Welcoming Mr. Pandian to the party, Puri MP, Pinaki Mishra remarked that all senior leaders are happy with “his administrative and political experience”. Talking to ANI, BJD MP, Amar Patnaik said THAT Mr. Pandian is an “able ally” for strengthening the party and the state in whole.

Mr. Patnaik said, “I welcome Sri Pandian to the Biju Janata Dal…he has been working very hard for several years for the people of our state and he will even continue to do so as a member of the party. I wish him all the best”. Mr. Pandian said he will work dedicatedly and selflessly for the people of Odisha with the guidance of CM Naveen.

Speculations of the Tamil Nadu born Pandian joining BJD has been looming around for a while now. He is a 2000 batch IAS officer and started his career as Dharmagarh sub-collector and then climbed to be collector for several districts.

He was the private secretary to Chief Minister of Odisha. After his voluntary resignation from the Indian civil service, he was made secretary of 5T (a transformational initiatives launched with the aim of improving governance and public service) in 2019. Last month, Mr. Pandian was appointed as the 5T Chairman.

Mr. Pandian received heavy criticism from opposition parties for his participation in politics while he was working as 5T Secretary and Private Secretary to the Chief Ministry. The opposition accuses him for misusing his position for serving political goals. He has also at the centre of many controversies, and Mr Pandian’s tour to 30 districts of Odisha using the state chopper was a recent one.
