
'Green Crackers Fine': Supreme Court Relaxes Firecracker Ban In Delhi-NCR For Diwali
The Supreme Court on Wednesday relaxed the absolute ban on the use of firecrackers in Delhi-NCR during the Diwali festival, with certain restrictions. The top court has allowed use and sales of green firecracker.
Stating that it was proposing to adopt the approach taken by the Supreme Court in 2018 in the Arjun Gopal Case as a temporary measure. Currently, all types of firecrackers, including the green ones, are banned in Delhi and nearby areas of Rajasthan, UP, and Haryana.

Due to ising pollution and repeated violations, the top court in 2020 imposed absolute ban on the manufacture, storage, sale, and bursting of firecrackers.
Earlier, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta had approahced Supreme Court to seek permission to allow green firecrackers in the city on the occasion of Diwali.
