“Inhumane, Unjust”: Mallikarjun Kharge On ‘Bulldozer’ Justice

Demolishing someone’s home and rendering their family homeless is both inhumane and unjust, said Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. Responding to Madhya Pradesh government demolishing a Congress leader’s properties, Kharge added that the repeated targeting of minorities in BJP-ruled states is deeply troubling. “Such actions have no place in a society governed by the Rule of Law,” the Congress president added.

“The Congress Party strongly condemns the BJP state governments for their blatant disregard of the Constitution, using bulldozing as a tactic to instill fear among citizens. Anarchy cannot replace natural justice—offences must be adjudicated in courts, not through state-sponsored coercion,” he said in an X post.

Former Congress district Vice President Haji Shahzad Ali’s residence was demolished was bulldozed by the district administration on Thursday. Ali is the prime accused, along with 150 others, for allegedly pelting stones at Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur police station.

The police have raided over 100 places and detained nearly 50 suspects for questioning. Out of these, 20 people have been arrested, stated Aman Mishra, Superintendent of Police (SP), as per The Hindu.

Ali has been identified as the prime accused who instigated the mob. Ali’s brother and local councillor, Azad Ali, and others’ properties were also demolished on Thursday evening. Ali is currently absconding.
