'Lured To Lodge, Drugged, Stole Valuables': Accused Woman In Businessman Sandeep Saliyan's Murder In Goa Hotel Room Arrested
The Goa Police on Saturday, July 4, arrested a woman in connection with the murder of Malpe businessman Sandeep Saliyan. The accused woman, identified as Akshata alias Mamata alias Roopashri, allegedly targeted wealthy businessmen visiting casinos.
Suspected to be a habitual offender, the 36-year old woman from Mangaluru allegedly lured the businessman into a lodge, drugged him and robbed valuables, including gold from the businessman. The businessman was found dead in Goal hotel room on Tuesday night. Though the death was initially suspected to have resulted from a heart attack, investigators became suspicious after discovering that his gold ornaments were missing.

Police, then, examined CCTV footage, which showed the accused entering the lodge with Saliyan and later leaving alone. Based on the footage and other evidence, Goa Police tracked her down and arrested her in Mangaluru on the night of July 3.
What was revealed then was shocking that the accused habitual offender used multiple aliases and changed her identity depending on the location where she operated. The woman allegedly contacted affluent businessmen through social media, lured them to casinos and hotels, drugged them, and robbed them of their valuables. She also blackmailed some of her victims.

During an earlier incident, the accused woman allegedly drugged a Gujarat-based businessman, Tomesh Yadav, at a hotel and stole jewellery worth Rs 2.40 lakh. Though she was arrested in the case, she was released later on bail. According to the police, the woman employed the same modus operandi in Saliyan’s case by allegedly administering a drug before stealing his valuables and fleeing the lodge.
However, Goa Police have registered a murder case against the accused and are continuing their investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding Saliyan’s death and whether others were involved in the crime.
