Drishyam-style crime has taken place in Delhi with a former Delhi Police constable arrested for allegedly killing a Greater Noida-based businessman to take possession of his flat.

The whole crime was planned by the accused, Praveen (42) in a week after watching Ajay Devgn and Tabu‘s crime-thriller, Drishyam, and other crime web series. The accused was taken into custody on Thursday.

Tracking back the history, Praveen met the businessman Ankush Sharma, through someone. Ankush wanted to sell his flat, which is in the greater Noida city.  Praveen and Ankush made a deal for Rs.1.20 crores. Praveen paid RS. 8 lakh to Sharma and thus began the transfer process.

However, a dispute was raised between both parties when Ankush got to know that the real price of the flat was much higher than the agreement made between them. The dispute arose after Ankush Sharma found that the price of the flat, in SKA society, was more than what the two parties had agreed upon. Triggered by the dispute, Praveen planned to kill Ankush, like in the crime thriller Drishyam.

On August 9, he picked Mr Sharma up from his office, saying he would give him money for the flat. Later the duo reached a society’s parking where the two started drinking. When Ankush Sharma got drunk, Mr Praveen hit him with a hammer on the head before strangling him to death.

On the same night of August 9, Praveen hid the body in a deserted property, not visited often by anyone. On the other hand, the family of the victim lodged a missing complaint at the Beta-2 police station.

On the investigation by the police, Praveen was arrested based on the analysis of more than 100 CCTV camera footage and intelligence. The exact spot of the buried victim’s body was also identified and the police have also recovered the hammer and the car, used by the accused.

Police have now charged Praveen under Sections 103(1) (charges of murder), 238 (destroying evidence), and 123 (giving poison to another person) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
