On Thursday, Panorama Studios announced its collaboration with Gulfstream Pictures and JOAT Films for the Hollywood remake of the acclaimed Drishyam franchise. The production house has secured the international remake rights to the hit Malayalam films Drishyam and Drishyam 2 from the original producers, Aashirvad Cinemas.

Known for its gripping storyline wrapped in twists and turns, the series is set to captivate global audiences with its Hollywood adaptation.

Kumar Mangat Pathak, Chairman and Managing Director of Panorama Studios, expressed his excitement, “Drishyam’s clever narrative has a universal appeal, and we are keen to celebrate this story with audiences worldwide. We are very happy to collaborate with Gulfstream Pictures and JOAT Films to create this story in English for Hollywood. After Korea and Hollywood, our mission is to produce Drishyam in 10 countries in the next three to five years,” as stated in a Bollywood Hungama report.

Mike Karz and Bill Bindley of Gulfstream Pictures expressed their enthusiasm for the project, stating, “The film is a timeless thriller that has entranced audiences across the globe. We can’t wait to bring the movie to fans here in the U.S.”

Gulfstream Pictures, co-founded by Karz and Bindley, is known for producing films such as Blended, featuring Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler, and the recent workplace comedy Upgraded, starring Camila Mendes, Marisa Tomei, and Lena Olin. Founded by Jack Nguyen, a former Warner Bros. executive and industry veteran, JOAT Films specialises in cross-territorial local language remakes.

Nguyen, highlighting the enduring appeal of the Drishyam story, said, “It combines drama, emotional highs and lows in a riveting cat and mouse tale, and our adaptation will undoubtedly keep audiences on the edge of their seats.”

Producer Abhishek Pathak, director of the Hindi Drishyam 2, commented, “The strength of Drishyam lies in its story, and we want it to be enjoyed by audiences globally.” He also expressed his excitement for the collaboration for taking the franchise forward in English for the US and other international markets.

While the Hollywood remake is in development, the Drishyam franchise has already made waves in several languages, including Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Sinhala, and Chinese.
