Madras HC Upholds Rs 1 Lakh Monthly Maintenance For Estranged Wife Despite Her Owning Flat, Luxury Cars

Chennai, Tamil Nadu: The Madras High Court recently asked an estranged husband to pay Rs 1 lakh per month as maintenance to a woman despite she owning high-value property and luxury cars. 

The husband had argued that  there was no need to grant such maintenance noting she has admitted owning a flat purchased for Rs 1.7 crore and two luxury cars.

However, the high court upheld the family court ruling that the he has to pay the maintenance to the estranged partner, pointing out that the  the woman did not have a regular source of income after the  birth of the couple’s child. The court said the man ailed to produce evidence to establish otherwise.
